Practice Schedule

LEW LANE FIELD AT BISHOP STADIUM IS CONSIDERED OUR "HOME" FIELD DURING A NORMAL SUMMER SEASON. SOMETIMES, DUE TO FACILITY AVAILABILITY DICTATED BY USD 383, PRACTICES ARE HELD AT EISENHOWER MIDDLE SCHOOL OR RILEY COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL.

HOWEVER, DURING THE 2021 SEASON, THE TEAM WILL BE UNABLE TO ACCESS THOSE REGULAR FACILITIES DUE TO SCHOOL DISTRICT COVID-19 POLICIES. THEREFORE, WE ARE IN ON-GOING DISCUSSIONS WITH USD 323 ROCK CREEK TO USE THEIR FACILITIES NO EARLIER THAN THE WEEK OF APRIL 12, 2021. THE SCHOOL BOARD MEETING WHICH IS SCHEDULED TO BE HELD ON APRIL 12, 2021 WILL GIVE US MORE DETAILS ON THIS AGREEMENT. WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT OUR PRACTICE SCHEDULE WILL LOOK LIKE UNTIL AFTER THE MEETING ON APRIL 12. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE.

DURING THE INDOOR SEASON, WE PRACTICE AT AHERN FIELDHOUSE ON THE CAMPUS OF KANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY.

THE CALENDAR INDICATES WHICH FACILITY WE WILL BE AT FOR PRACTICES.

Schedule of Events

KSHSAA rules apply to middle and high school track participants. They WILL NOT be allowed to practice with the Manhattan Track Club until their school season is complete.  However, middle and high school parents are encouraged to attend the Parent/Athlete Meeting to register for the season.

Attendance at all practices is not mandatory. However, the more your child attends practice, the more he/she will see improvement in their skills.

FAQs

1.Does my child have to attend every practice?

No, because our children are involved in so many activities, we understand that they might not be able to make it to every practice. We do recommend practicing at least 2 to 3 times per week so that your athlete has the best chance to improve during the MTC season.

2.How should my athlete prepare for practice?

To prevent injuries on those days it is cold and damp, you should always dress in layers. You can shed your sweatshirts, jackets, stocking caps, gloves, and pants when your muscles get stretched and warmed. It's cool to be prepared, un-cool - unprepared. Bring a water bottle to every practice. It is important to keep your body hydrated. And STAY AWAY FROM THE SODA!

3.How will I know if a track practice is cancelled?

Practices are generally not cancelled unless storms and lightening. Because we have a track to use, we do not have to worry about wet fields. If it is lightening and storming 15 minutes before practice, you can assume it will be cancelled. If it begins to storm during practice we would like you to pick up your child, they will be kept safe in the locker rooms at the field until you arrive.
