MTC Parent Information & Membership
2008
We welcome your young athlete to the 2008 season of the Manhattan Track Club.
MTC offers a program of track and field instruction, training, and competition
that is suited to all levels of ability and experience. The club and coaches
will encourage your athlete to set personal goals and develop discipline and
techniques needed to reach those goals. MTC also believes in providing a positive,
fun, and supportive atmosphere. Our coaches are either professional level coaches
or college level track and field athletes who teach the proper mechanics and
techniques of all events. Athletes have the opportunity to compete in their age
division at meets throughout the AAU series of meets. This series culminates with
the National Junior Olympic Games which will be held in Detroit, Michigan in 2008.
Consider joining us for the 2008 season.

The MTC season runs from April 9, 2008 through June 24, 2008. Practices will be held Monday through
Friday, April 9 - May 23, from 6:00 - 7:30 pm. Starting May 27, practices will be held 8:00 - 9:30 am.
KSHSAA rules apply to middle and high school track participants. They WILL NOT be allowed to practice with
the Manhattan Track Club until their school season is complete. However, middle and high school
parents are encouraged to attend the Parent/Athlete Meeting to register for the season.
Spring and summer is a time of many activities including other sports. Therefore attendance at all
practices is not mandatory. However, the more your child attends practice, the more he/she will see
improvement in their skills.
Uniforms
New team competition singlets will be part of your club membership. They will be yours to own.
They will also be worn with BLACK shorts during meets. Shorts will not be provided by the club.
The team singlet will be worn in competition
Track & Field Meets
MTC also participates as a team in many track meets throughout the season. All meets are optional but
highly encouraged. At these meets, athletes compete with others in their age group and these meets serve
as a reward and encouragement for their hard work in practice. Most early meets are held in the Manhattan
area or the state. The Kansas State Championships, which is hosted by MTC in Manhattan, begins the AAU
series of meets in which the top event finishers in each successive meet advance to the Missouri Valley,
Regionals, and the National Junior Olympic Games. Note that all meets have separate registration forms
and fees which are the responsibility of each athlete.
